I am Phil Scopes, a 35-year-old single white male
living in downtown Chicago. You may be wondering why
I am doing a site like this.
Well, my background is in computer programming. I have
a computer science degree from the University of
Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, and after working for
several companies in software development for 6 1/2
years, I decided that Corporate America wasn't for me.
So, I started my own business. Believe it or not, my
strongest interest is in automated phone systems. I
currently run a successful business involving my
Net-By-Phone
and voicemail
systems. However, game shows have always fascinated
me, even as a little kid. Back in the mid 70s, I enjoyed
watching many popular shows such as The Joker's Wild,
Tic Tac Dough, and Whew, and there were many others over
the years. However, since I acquired an extra TV set due
to the passing of my grandmother in the summer of 2004, I
put the TV in my office and started watching Jeopardy on
a regular basis. I became very interested in the long
run of Ken Jennings, and was always hoping that any new
champion would have a run like that. When David Madden
won his sixth game, and I saw that many of the games were
runaways like Ken's, I wanted to put up this website. I
also posted an article to
Wikipedia, and a lot of discussion has ensued over whether
Madden is a suitable subject for the encyclopedia. There
are also many people who put up blog posts saying that I am
premature in putting up a site about a "madden watch" because David
Madden hasn't reached notability yet. However, if I were to wait too
long, my site would get lost in the shuffle, and wouldn't mean anything.
So, here it is...MADDENWATCH!
